A 11 member delegation of BIAA led by its President Adv. Rafiqul Islam Masum called on hon’ble Agriculture Minister Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, on February 11, 2019.
Mr. Masum congratulated the Minister for taking over the charge of the Agriculture Ministry which is one of the lifelines of the economy of Bangladesh. While informing about the activities of the Bangladesh Indenting Agents’ Association and the role of its members in economic development of the country, he said that BIAA has good number of members dealing in indent of agricultural machineries instruments & latest technologies. He said indentors are vastly experienced in bringing quality goods, raw materials, and machineries at a very competitive price from round the globe and to address the increasing demand of foods, corns, latest technologies has no alternatives-added Mr. Masum. In agricultural development, he mentioned the role of the members of BIAA. He pointed out that cotton is the main raw materials of textile and Bangladesh is the largest cotton importing country of the world. He requested the Minister to take required initiative to increase the production of the local cotton so that the growing demand of cotton can be met to some extent from the local sources. Mr. Masum also stressed on harvesting cotton & discourage of cultivating Tobacco in interest of Textile Sector of the country.
Hon’ble Minister assured cooperation from his Ministry for any initiative that facilitates and advance the economic activities and boost up development in agricultural sector. He thanked the BIAA delegates to inform him about the activities of BIAA in economic development of the country.
